Sýslumaður Dauðans (e. The Death Department) is my first full length play. Translation available.
The play is a far fetched reworking of the myth of Orfeo, a surrealist drama comedy, a modern fairy tale, set in the world of startup and paperwork, where Ævar, after having completed three tasks of grief that include a no-talk-talk show, a relationship interrogation and an encounter with a blind mole of memories, tries to negotiate a new long term life-lease for his recently passed away father at The Death Department.
The play won play of the year at the Gríman Icelandic theatre awards and will be premiered in Montréal in march 2027. It has available translations in English, Canadian French, Estonian and Chinese.
